Medway Sailability Club's Hawk 20, ''Able Spirit'

Medway Sailability's Hawk 20, 'Able Spirit', a 20ft open cockpit sail boat.
Chris Hawkins, a physically impaired MP commisioned Reid Marine to build a one-design 20 ft craft that could be sailed sinlge-handed.
The Hawk 20 is self-righting, unsinkable, has 50% ballast ratio, can carry up to 6 people in Force 6 winds. She is marketed as a sea going day boat.
'Able Spirit' has proved to be a well suited craft to enable people with disabilities to sail. She has several modifications to include an aft centre line foot brace for those less ambulant sailors in well heeled conditions and a speaking Tridata system giving depth, speed and log readings.
'Able Spirit' is a most enjoyable, very exhilarating, giving confidence and safety with sail in a wide range of wind conditions.
